4cfm Walter Kidde oil pipe configuration

Posted by Peter on Saturday, October 13 2007

Hi Neville,
With regard to the oil pipe configuration of the Kidde 4cfm block, firstly, you have to make sure the compressor block have a sump tank attached, since the 4cfm kidde have some different models and the sump tank may attched on the right or left side of the compressor block, and the oil is come out from the connector located at the middle level of the sump through a filter and linked to the gear pump which are located behind the compressor cooling fan and the oil are get pressureized and pass through the crankshaft to lubricate the pistons and cylinders.

The gear pump assembly has two connectors in original, when you facing on the cooling fan, the oil input is the left side one and right side one is connect to the damp valve as driven power, if your kidde block without this dump valve then you can just seal and block it or you may connect a oil pressure gauge ( 200 psi in full scale) for monitoring oil pressure purpose.

If you are still confuse on it, then just send me the compressor photos then I may give you some help.

RGDS,

Peter
