I have a Rittenhouse Home Intercom, Model No. M7010 that had no audio. A technician said the amplifier was bad and he replaced several transistors in it, but the volume is very weak. He does not know exactly what transistors to use to replace the old ones, and does not have a schematic. Can you provide a schematic, or tell me where I might get one? Thanks, Tom Mitchell

sheetrocking my house after it was flooded by katrina, the contractor stupidly threw away the master station to my doorbell/radio/intercom system which rendered the system inoperable. i have asked an electrician friend to look at it and he cannot find a suitable retrofit. we will have to replace the whole system which includes one substation and four remote stations. i am looking for recommendations of brands to replace it with (nutones white, plastic master stations dont suit my mid-century modern home). i am looking for industrial-looking, high-end brushed chrome or nickel ones.or if anyone has a master station they would like to sell me, that would be terrific... many thanks!!

This problem may be caused by a lighted doorbell. After the bell is wrung, the light will re-illuminate. When that happens it may be drawing just enough power to make the door chimes think that the button was pressed once again. This is a repeating pattern. If a lighted door button is used, the solution is to either replace the button with a non-lighted version, or open the button and disconnect the light inside it.Yes, I had this problem myself. I had replaced an old doorbell button with a new, lighted one. I ripped out the tiny light inside and it worked fine after that.

πŸ“ Martin said:
I have the exact same problem, but its not caused by a lighted doorbell. Without the doorbell connect (and not crossing the wires) the chime mechanism keeps repeating. Im not sure whether its because the contacts arent lined up correctly or whether its a wiring problem. Ive tinkered and tinkered to no avail.

Am I imagining things or has dad disabled this function somehow?I do see two screws on the extreme upper-right of the circuit board that have a jumper installed. Whats that for?Lastly, Id like to install a 2nd door bell in the basement (I work at home, in my office basement and cant hear the main bell all the time). Before installing the Rittenhouse, I just had two bells wired together in parallel, but when I tried to do this with the Rittenhouse, it just triggered the chimes. We purchased our present home in 1998. It was custom built in 1983 with many upgrades that were available at that time. Unfortunately since we have lived here the system does not work. The main unit is 17 wide and 9 tall. There are 12 units scattered throughout the house. They each measure 7.5 tall by 8 wide. I think what we have may be on the large size as far as the measurements of each room speaker and the main system as well. because of this we are afraid we are looking at a major renovation to replace it. New drywall and all that. Is there a possibility that it can be repaired or does Rittenhouse have a replacement that would fit? Please advise.Thank you,Marie Gunderman

I have read several threads asking about updating an old Rittenhouse system. I would like to do the same, hopefully avoiding the need to replace drywall, etc., since this system is considerably larger than the Nutone products. I couldnt find any responses addressing whether or not there were solutions available. This system is working fine, it just looks silly with the updates we have made to the house. Thank you!

I have a Rittenhouse Model S7806 Smoke/Fire detector system in my 3-level condo. It was there when I moved in so there is no manual for it.My problem is, after a thunder and lightening storm the other day, I came home to find all 3 units ringing. The only way I could silence them was to switch off the circuit breaker. If I turn the breaker back on the alarms start sounding again. How do I reset them. There is no apparent reset button; nor can I find a master control box or module anywhere. Do they use them? They are connected to the ceiling box by 4 wires. Any help would be appreciated.
