my SYBRON-TAYLORhas stopped recording the correct speed--at low wind speed the indicator wiggles only a small amount---at high wind speed it moves only slightly up the scale---the cups seem to rotate at different speeds ie as the wind builds to higer speeds the cups rotate faster---as best i can tell like they always have for the last 30 years(ie the unit doesnt owe me anything)-----is there anything i can check/repair short of sending the unit to you or buying a new indicator???? i have checked the flow of current between all connections--seems OK but i dont know what it should be??? my ACV lowest seting is 10---meter shows nothing????-----hope you can give me some good advice---thank you in advance for whatever you can suggest----bruce cunninghamβ‘οΈ Reply Taylor Electronics
The weathervane rod bent due to some unknown reason and when I took off the top I noticed the vectical shaft was also worn very bad. Do you sell the whole package that sits on top of the roof? The machine was in for repair back in 12/17/82, bought in Sept of 73. Rough weather up here near Rochester, NY where Taylor Instreuments was born. Thank you,James S. I would like to know if I can purchase the roof unit ( wind/speed indicator and wire )for the 3108 Weatherscope or if I can use a different/more current model that will work as well. I was given the Weatherscope, but I cannot access the weather/wind vane at this time. Thanks, any other info. on this unit would be most appreciated ( Manuals, etc.)David Watsonβ‘οΈ Reply Taylor Electronics

Have an old? Taylor Weatherscope (cannot find a Model Number) made by Taylor Instrument Company Rochester USA. Has four separate gauges - Max/Min temperature, Barometer, wind speed and wind direction set in a solid wooden cabinet. Cable linking weathervane and wind speed indicator to instruments has been cut. Can you help re rewiring. Can you help re vintage and history of the instrument. Many thanksLeoβ‘οΈ Reply Taylor Electronics
I have the same thing as Leo. My Dad was a weatherman for the County and I inherited this. I would love to use it but I know nothing about wiring. My cable linking the weatervane and wind speed is also cut. There is a very long wire with a metal rod on the end..not sure what that is for. Can anyone give me any information? Im not mechanical but I willing to learn. Thanks Debβ‘οΈ Reply Taylor Electronics
Re; Taylor Model 3108A repair person at my home has severly damaged my external thermometer prob/bulb and has also severed the 5-strand ribbon cable which connects the wind-speed/direction unit to the main guage panel. Are there any replacement prob/bulbs and ribbon cables? Is there a 5-pin connector which could be crimped to each cable end to permit reconnection? I am concerned about weather effects on any repair, too.Thank you for any guidance you can offer.Tom Vogelpohl513-232-0356β‘οΈ Reply Taylor Electronics

I have a Taylor Weatherscope but I need the outdoor parts. Are those available?β‘οΈ Reply Taylor Electronics
After reading your comments about your sensor, I realized the magnet may be one of the culprits on this issue. Over time moisture accumulates in the magnet and may weaken the field to the induction coil. The induction coil in the Taylor anemometer heads are often weakened by time - temp changes etc. 30+ yrs of use. The coil end braids come undone, but yours is still reading out. There are also two capacitors in the back of the meter and they sometimes lose charge during wind lulls. There are also two adjusting potentiometers in the back of the meter. These can calibrate the windspeed. I find taking a small 6v battery sometimes fills the capacitors back to full thus making the windspeed work again. Just make sure if you do this, to do it momentarily and without the generator unit attached. The Taylor also has a rubber piece in the center of the magnet, make sure it isnt rubbing the bearing plate, it slows the cup operation. You might want to consider a set screw in the outer cup hub, Taylor windspeed generators have a tendency to blow off during windstorms. I have had several 3107s. They are quite accurate if maintained. -Mattβ‘οΈ Reply Taylor Electronics
