The door chime is not working properly in that some of the hammers are not striking properly. sometimes they reach the tubes and sometimes not. They are all active but not as strong as they should be .I have turned down the adjuster and none strike and when turned up, it is as I have described . We purchased our present home in 1998. It was custom built in 1983 with many upgrades that were available at that time. Unfortunately since we have lived here the system does not work. The main unit is 17\' wide and 9\" tall. There are 12 units scattered throughout the house. They each measure 7.5\"…Purchase or Repair: ...We purchased our present home in 1998. There are 12 units scattered throughout the house. They each measure 7.5\" tall by 8\" wide. I think what we have may be on the large size as far as the measurements of each room speaker and the main system as well. because of this we are afraid we are looking at a major renovation to replace it. The installation manual has been misplaced and I am not sure which wires go to which connection. There is a red wire, a black wire, and a yellow with a green wire. This problem may be caused by a lighted doorbell. After the bell is wrung, the light will re-illuminate. When that happens it may be drawing just enough power to make the door chimes think that the button was pressed once again. This is a repeating pattern.If a lighted door button is used, the solution is to either replace the button with a non-lighted version, or open the button and disconnect the light inside it.Yes, I had this problem myself. I had replaced an old doorbell button with a new, lighted one. I ripped out the tiny light inside and it worked fine after that.

We installed our Rittenhouse intercom system in 1978 when we built our new home. The speakers look out of date and would like a better main unit. My dad just passed away and I\'m moving his Rittenhouse Westminster clock/chime from his place to mine before selling the house. I believe it is a model 631 or 632 but I\'m not sure - WHERE CAN I FIND THE MODEL NUMBER? (I\'ve seen pics of what appear to be identical units labeled 631/632).I\'ve got it hooked up and the basic functions seem to be working - ie front doorbell and westminster chimes.However, as a kid, I seem to remember this thing also chiming on the hour and perhaps, single notes on the quarter hour, but it doesn\'t do that any more. Am I imagining things or has dad disabled this function somehow?I do see two screws on the extreme upper-right of the circuit board that have a jumper installed. What\'s that for?Lastly, I\'d like to install a 2nd door bell in the basement (I work at home, in my office basement and can\'t hear the main bell all the time). Before installing the Rittenhouse, I just had two bells wired together in parallel, but when I tried to do this with the Rittenhouse, it just triggered the chimes.
