I purchased this residential unit in 1986. It is now giving a significant hum and does not produce all of its chimes.Does this give you a clue as to repairability?

This is a two unit intercom and door opener for apartments. Presently, it has current but buzzes the door open without pushing the switch, and has no voice tones.

The Rittenhouse door intercom answering system system was installed in 1978. It is not functioning well. Do you have a newer replacement for it that would still have the doorbell and intercom system? Does a new unit come with the exterior speaker?

The unit works, but possibly in need of some service. The AM radio works , but no FM. There is a bit of background noise in the system.

My manual says 4-8 Note Chime Models (534, 535, 552, 577, 618, 633). I don't know which one I have. It has long chime tubes and a clock on top. The door bell works great, but the clock doesn't.

This problem may be caused by a lighted doorbell. After the bell is wrung, the light will re-illuminate. When that happens it may be drawing just enough power to make the door chimes think that the button was pressed once again.
