Years ago lightening hit house the chime stoped working the unit is in the kitchen and of coarse the door bell at the front door to push with finger ..doesnt work anymore can this be fixed ??/

Only one of four chimes works, although we detect a faint electronic buzzing, in sequence, of the other three. For example, we hear Chime A, buzz, buzz, pause, buzz, buzz, Chime A. My mom and dad has an old (approx.37yrs) rittenhouse intercom system and they need a replacement bulb for the main unit. I\'ve tried searchingonline but since mom nor dad know the exact part # i\'m having no luck.Dad said it was a low wattage pilot lamp?? GE19 or R19???? Am I imagining things or has dad disabled this function somehow?I do see two screws on the extreme upper-right of the circuit board that have a jumper installed. What\'s that for?Lastly, I\'d like to install a 2nd door bell in the basement (I work at home, in my office basement and can\'t hear the main bell all the time). Before installing the Rittenhouse, I just had two bells wired together in parallel, but when I tried to do this with the Rittenhouse, it just triggered the chimes. I have a ritenhouse emerson door chime unit. It just started chimeing for no reason I had to disconnect it to silence it. Now when I hooked it back up nothing happens. This problem may be caused by a lighted doorbell. After the bell is wrung, the light will re-illuminate. When that happens it may be drawing just enough power to make the door chimes think that the button was pressed once again. This is a repeating pattern.If a lighted door button is used, the solution is to either replace the button with a non-lighted version, or open the button and disconnect the light inside it.Yes, I had this problem myself. I had replaced an old doorbell button with a new, lighted one. I ripped out the tiny light inside and it worked fine after that.

I have the exact same problem, but it\'s not caused by a lighted doorbell. Without the doorbell connect (and not crossing the wires) the chime mechanism keeps repeating. I\'m not sure whether it\'s because the contacts aren\'t lined up correctly or whether it\'s a wiring problem.
