Years ago lightening hit house the chime stoped working the unit is in the kitchen and of coarse the door bell at the front door to push with finger ..doesnt work anymore can this be fixed ??/

The door chime is not working properly in that some of the hammers are not striking properly. sometimes they reach the tubes and sometimes not. A Rittenhouse model 312 came with my home. It works but the chimes are not loud enough to heard unless you are in the room where the doorbell is mounted.I would hate to replace it because other than this it is very workable.

This problem may be caused by a lighted doorbell. After the bell is wrung, the light will re-illuminate. When that happens it may be drawing just enough power to make the door chimes think that the button was pressed once again.
