We installed our Rittenhouse intercom system in 1978 when we built our new home. The speakers look out of date and would like a better main unit. We have 4 outside units, and 7 speakers.Can we purchase new units and still use the same wiring? Would appreciate a response ASAP. Thanks Jim MannP.S. Was working well until I sanded and painted the kitchen. I took the chimes down to paint, put them back and nothing works. I get voltage coming in but it doesn\'t move anything.

This is a two unit intercom and door opener for apartments. Presently, it has current but buzzes the door open without pushing the switch, and has no voice tones.

I get typically one of three chimes to sound when the doorbell is rung, occassionally 2 followed by a buzzing sound. Some of the wires were loose and I tightened them, but still don\'t get all the tones. Any ideas on what to do to get all three chimes to ring?
