Was working well until I sanded and painted the kitchen. I took the chimes down to paint, put them back and nothing works. I get voltage coming in but it doesn\'t move anything.

This problem may be caused by a lighted doorbell. After the bell is wrung, the light will re-illuminate. When that happens it may be drawing just enough power to make the door chimes think that the button was pressed once again. I TOOK THE CLOCK TO A ANTIQUE DEALER HE TOOK THE MOTOR OUT AND REPLACED IT WITH A BATTERY UNIT. I AM LOOKING TO REPLACE IT BACK WITH THE ORIGINAL MOTOR.

A Rittenhouse model 312 came with my home. It works but the chimes are not loud enough to heard unless you are in the room where the doorbell is mounted.I would hate to replace it because other than this it is very workable.
