I have the exact same problem, but it\'s not caused by a lighted doorbell. Without the doorbell connect (and not crossing the wires) the chime mechanism keeps repeating. I\'m not sure whether it\'s because the contacts aren\'t lined up correctly or whether it\'s a wiring problem. Existing model was put in my home maybe late 60\'s, with ivory base unit and 4 ivory receivers plus brass door unit intercom. The radio reception is irregular, fades in and out and there is much static. Sometimes have to jiggle knobs on base unit to tune radio! We installed our Rittenhouse intercom system in 1978 when we built our new home. The speakers look out of date and would like a better main unit. I took the transformer out to try to clean it and lost the little spring that gives the plunger resistance . Do you have any ideas ?Or do you sell parts, perhaps a whole tansformer. I have the above model doorbell and really like the sound vs. the new \"electronic sound\" doorbells. Problem is the mechanism inside the doorbell (the part with the two knockers that the wires attach that hit the bells to make the sound) no longer works.
