We purchased our present home in 1998. It was custom built in 1983 with many upgrades that were available at that time. Unfortunately since we have lived here the system does not work. The main unit is 17\' wide and 9\" tall. There are 12 units scattered throughout the house. They each measure 7.5\"…Purchase or Repair: ...We purchased our present home in 1998. I think what we have may be on the large size as far as the measurements of each room speaker and the main system as well. because of this we are afraid we are looking at a major renovation to replace it. New drywall and all that. Is there a possibility that it can be repaired or does Rittenhouse have a replacement that would fit? Please advise.Thank you,Marie Gunderman

Existing model was put in my home maybe late 60\'s, with ivory base unit and 4 ivory receivers plus brass door unit intercom. The radio reception is irregular, fades in and out and there is much static. Sometimes have to jiggle knobs on base unit to tune radio! Just wondering i have a rittenhouse system rcm-1 and the intercom system part does not seem to be working. We can broadcast for the main unit and it is heard in the other units but when we try to broadcast from one of the other units to the main you can not hear the person ? We installed our Rittenhouse intercom system in 1978 when we built our new home. The speakers look out of date and would like a better main unit. My dad just passed away and I\'m moving his Rittenhouse Westminster clock/chime from his place to mine before selling the house. I believe it is a model 631 or 632 but I\'m not sure - WHERE CAN I FIND THE MODEL NUMBER? (I\'ve seen pics of what appear to be identical units labeled 631/632).I\'ve got it hooked up and the basic functions seem to be working - ie front doorbell and westminster chimes.However, as a kid, I seem to remember this thing also chiming on the hour and perhaps, single notes on the quarter hour, but it doesn\'t do that any more. Am I imagining things or has dad disabled this function somehow?I do see two screws on the extreme upper-right of the circuit board that have a jumper installed. What\'s that for?Lastly, I\'d like to install a 2nd door bell in the basement (I work at home, in my office basement and can\'t hear the main bell all the time). Before installing the Rittenhouse, I just had two bells wired together in parallel, but when I tried to do this with the Rittenhouse, it just triggered the chimes. What is the terminal marked EXT FRONT for?Thanx....

I have the exact same problem, but it\'s not caused by a lighted doorbell. Without the doorbell connect (and not crossing the wires) the chime mechanism keeps repeating. I\'m not sure whether it\'s because the contacts aren\'t lined up correctly or whether it\'s a wiring problem.
